How important is a bill of lading?

You will sign the vehicle over to the driver for the time of transit, and he will sign it back to you at the delivery point. When a driver has a car-hauler full of vehicles, the BOL serves as his load manifest, should he need to account to the authorities as to why he has other peoples' cars in his possession. In the event of an insurance claim, it is also required. The BOL will note damage as indicated at pickup and delivery from the customer and the driver.
